Pre home-listing tips!

Updated: Jan 19, 2021

Are you thinking about selling your home? Well if so, you are in the right place! Now is the perfect time to start preparing your home to be market-ready. In this article, I will break down some of the most important tips.

First, speak to a Realtor

Even if you aren’t planning to list for another one-to-two months, realtors can help you through the process of getting your home ready to list. Realtors provide you with tips on what needs to be done to best showcase your home. Additionally, realtors provide comparative market analysis’ to help you determine the value of your home.

Declutter your home and yard

Declutter and de-personalize! Remember that people often buy with their eyes, not their head. Buyers often can’t see beyond what is in front of them. So use it to your advantage by making sure your home is clean, decluttered and de-personalized, that way it will be easier for buyers to envision themselves living in it; which is exactly what you want!

Deeeep clean the interior

Make sure your showers are free of any mold and mildew. Ensure your carpets are vacuumed (professional cleaning if necessary). Also, don’t forget to clean the cabinets underneath your sinks because people will often look under to check for plumbing. You may also choose to throw on a fresh coat of paint. Deep cleans are often the most cost-efficient way to make a home more enticing for potential buyers.

Get your home pre-inspected

Getting your home pre-inspected is a great way to get out in front of any potential problems before they come up. Since buyers do a home inspection once they successfully negotiate a home purchase, you’ll be able to find any issues prior to their search. During a pre-inspection, a home inspector will look for potential major home defects, such as roofing, furnace, air conditioning, etc. Essentially, the goal of the pre-inspections is to find and fix any home defects that can be dealt with before putting your home on the market.
